In case you don’t know, RSS (really simple syndication) is a format sites can use to deliver news and articles - a kind of ‘reminder’ that saves you the trouble of visiting all your favourite sites and pages. Whenever you see this small feed icon, click on it for that page’s contents to be retrieved as a feed. If you download a feedreader it will automatically get the RSS updates for you, displaying news/content headlines without you having to visit the actual site. The latest versions of browsers also have a feed reading function included.
Some feed readers are rather clever, they go off looking for the news for you, so that typing in ‘Thailand’ and/or ‘travel’ would return this news feed we are offering. By this method hundreds of Thailand travellers will find our news without needing to known where our sites are. If the news story is about your travel service (e.g. Phuket Divers offer a PADI course special) it will have a link back to your site, this is a handy way to get new visitors.
By a similar process, your own site can display this news (as opposed to a feedreader), all you need is for your webmaster to follow the instructions on the previous page. The benefit of this is to show your visitors (and Google) that your site is up-to-date and useful. If your webmaster is really smart, then we encourage him or her to include not only the headlines on your site but also the whole news story on a new page (ask them to figure this out). This is because your visitors will read the news on your site instead of just clicking the headline and ending up on own site. You don’t want to lose them do you!
